Roatan is known for its abundance of Barrier Reefs, which typically run parallel to the shoreline. Divers can explore barrier reefs surrounding the entire island of Roatan. The reefs feature a large variety of corals, both hard and soft, including many sea fans, venus and wide-mesh corals, sea plumes, and corky sea fingers. The site hosts many small fish and occasional green eels out in the open.
